As I have chosen my genre for my coursework. I have decided
to do a Pop/R&B music video and I am researching different media text from
the same genre as my coursework. The
target audience is more to people who likes R&B, pop and hip pop music and
tend to go for the same genre for movies, TV, websites and magazine.
Stomp the Yard is a 2007 drama and dance film produced by
Rainforest Films and directed by Sylvain White. When the dance routine comes on
the camera work is like how a normal music video would be. This film is more of
a hip pop film and the costume and the lighting is the same as a hip pop music
video. And they used famous singers like Chris Brown.
106 and Park is a TV show that features hip pop, R&B and
pop artists and interviews them and give a performance at the end. There are have audience/fans in the
background, there is quite a lot bright lighting. Mise en scene is colourful,
vibrant and alive. They do music videos countdown and they only play a min and
a half of the song and the video fades out into the main show and the music
still plays out in the background (diegetic sound)
Vibe Magazine is a music and entertainment magazine
featuring well known celebrities on the front covers and it covers dream urban
lifestyles which features car, jewellery, fashion and gadgets. The magazine is
very bright and has colours and a theme too.
Worldwide urban music is a website and uploads and talks
about famous celebrities and it keeps you posted about upcoming music videos
and albums. You can also submit your own music or videos and people can have a
look at it. The website, it’s easy to use and the main colours are black, white
and red. I think this is aim at young teenagers that are trying to become
famous of their talents and research their pop idol.
Evaluation
What I have found in my research that their all the same
genre and targeting the same audience but have different convections. It’s the same.
